Final Project | Doing Data Science

Students will complete a final project on a topic of their choice, drawing data from an API source of their choosing, processing it with EduBlocks, visualizing the data with CODAP, and presenting their findings to the class. The final project is intended to include all three phases covered in the curriculum applied to a subject of interest for the students.

Final Project Part 2: Asking Questions

In this lesson, students will learn about data science questions and will be asked to generate research questions that could be answered using the dataset they found. Students will also peer review other students' questions.

Final Project Part 3: Refining Data

In this lesson, students will filter their data, identify any missing data and fix any duplicate responses. After cleaning and manipulatinf the data, they will transfer it into CODAP.

Final Project Part 4: Visualizing Data

In this lesson, students will plan their analysis in small groups, conduct any necessary variable transformations, create 3-5 graphs to answer their questions. Student will also peer review others' data visualizations and interpretations.

Final Project Part 5: Communicating Results

In this lesson, students will focus on submitting their final projects. They will prepare slides and a script or their presentation in accordance with the API Can Code rubric.
